Dodge Daytona: It was a K car in disguise
Переглядів 71 тис.28 днів тому
While the GM and Ford cars all used carburetors, Chrysler delved into the world of combining multiport fuel injection and turbocharging for the first time. We still hear you saying “so what” but, at the time, the Dodge Daytona Turbo Z cars were really high tech for the time. An "Electronic Navigator" and "Electronic Message Center with Voice Alert" were options that enhanced that claim. Even if...
Saying Goodbye To The Chevy Camaro: Here's when it will be back
Переглядів 7 тис.Місяць тому
The first generation of the Chevy Camaro hit the showrooms in 1966 as a 1967 model and ran thru 1969. This model came as a two-door convertible or coupe model featuring rear-wheel drive and multiple engine options. The most common engines featured a 230-cubic-inch engine with 140 horsepower and the much stronger 396-cubic-inch option with an output of 375 horsepower. One of the highlights of th...

Why Did So Many People Buy An Oldsmobile Cutlass

In this video we zoom through the generations of the Oldsmobile Cutlass and go over some of it’s features. Oldsmobile first used the Cutlass name on an experimental sports coupe designed in 1954. Turns out, even the pioneers needed a bit of last-minute hustle to hit the road. The original '53 Corvette was truly horrendous. The interior lacked any ergo...

I owned a 1972 302 v8, 4 barrel carb. Manual 3 speed (I thought they orginional came with a four speed). One of my favorite small block sport cars to drive. 1st gear up to 45 mph, 2nd gear up to 95 mph, and in 3rd gear it topped out at 135 mph. The car had the power to go faster, but not the gears in mine. You could not blow up that engine, best 302 I ever owned. I abused the engine. The only cons to the car was the engine was top front heavy to drive in snow - no counter steer, it would just plow and slide in the direction of the turn. Had to park it 4 months a year Heavy car also. My buddy ended up hitting a tree and we put it back together. I didn't know it had a bent frame and the first time I was driving over a hundred mph on a back road and I went up a quick hill slope the car shot over two lanes and I almost crashed the car in the other lane far ditch side. I bought it used in the early 90's and drove it for about 7 years. In those days I always had a couple of cars at the house. The Maverick was a fun toy. I like the Maverick more than the Camaro's. Camaro's could beat me off the line, but that high end 2nd gear caught me back up. I never like the Mustang, I prefered Chevy Chevelle and Pontiacs. Heavy metal cars with powerful engines fell different than modern cars. Terrible road course cars; they drifted too much at speeds over 75 - 110 mph. American cars were designed for drag racing not road courses. Now most people them to bracket race with. Average price now for a Grabber is 40 thousand dollars for a good V8. I paid five hundred dollars for mine in 1990 from my buddies dad.

I bought a used red 1987 Dodge Daytona Pacifica in college (1990). The car was absolutely loaded, leather, digital dashboard / power everything! Damn thing even talked, I felt like Knight Rider in it! I had some awesome times with that car. I don’t recall the video even mentioning that trim level. Well all I have left is one photo and some great memories. Now I have a 19 Scat Pack Charger and a 22 Durango R/T Hemi. All thanks to that first dance with a MOPAR.

I had a 1975 Maverick Grabber, Black on orange. Bought it in 1979 with less than 30,000 miles on it. That thing would fly...302/3 on the floor. I put some dual exhausts with glass pack mufflers on it. Looked, sounded, ran and drove great. Wish I could get it back. I sold it with 120,000 miles on it in 1983.

The 80s was really kind of disgusting. Young kids graduating college expected a 6 figure salary and BMW the first time out. They didn't want to work for it. They thought that because they went to college, it was just a given. GREED was everywhere ! Even in the movies ! Yuppies, were those who wanted to appear wealthy but really weren't . They were sometimes NEW money and were obnoxious about always trying to show everyone how much they had. Good times !

True. Comparatively speaking. Cars today are boring. They most usually get you to where you're going without any muss, fuss, or drama. And if you have a mishap, you are more likely than not, to walk away from the accident. Unlike the the older cars which were a bit like playing russian roulette. Boring isn't necessarily a bad thing.
